As part of my academic work, I have dealt intensively with the future of social media – especially in the area of tension between artificial intelligence (AI) and the emerging metaverse. The study sheds light on how social platforms are changing as a result of technological innovations and what new opportunities, but also challenges, arise for users, companies and society.
The focus is in particular:
• AI-supported personalization of content and its impact on user experience and opinion formation
• Virtual interaction in the metaverse, including immersive social spaces and digital identities
• Opportunities for brand communication and community building in virtual worlds
• Ethics & privacy, especially in the context of hyper-personalized social media experiences
• Developments around virtual influencers & AI-generated content creation
The study combines theoretical foundations with practical future scenarios and provides well-founded insights for companies, media makers and all those who want to actively shape digital change.
Key message of the study:
AI and the metaverse are not only making social media more efficient and immersive, but also fundamentally transforming it into a dynamic ecosystem that increasingly merges real and virtual experiences.
